Be Prepared for Thunderstorms and Severe Weather

• Educate yourself on the local community’s emergency warning system for severe thunderstorms. (NBC-DFW-WEATHER, CBS-DFW-WEATHER)
• Discuss thunderstorm safety and lightning safety with all members of your household.
• Decide with members of your household a safe place in your home for members to gather during a thunderstorm.
• Make a list of items to bring inside in the event of a severe thunderstorm.
• Keep trees and shrubbery trimmed and remove damaged branches.
• Protect your animals by bringing them inside your home.
• Family & emergency contact information.
• Copies of personal documents.
• One gallon of water per person in house hold.
• Food items that are non-perishable and easy-to-prepare.
• Medications and medical devices.
• First aid kit
• Flashlight
• Battery-powered (NOAA Weather Radio, if possible)
• Extra batteries
• First aid kit
• Cell phone with chargers
